Small Business Waste Assistance Program

Hazardous waste a problem? We can help!

What is the Small Business Waste Assistance Program?

The Small Business Waste Assistance Program (SBWAP) provides a safe and affordable disposal/recycling option for your business. SBWAP is part of the City of Tucson/Pima County Household Hazardous Waste Program and is operated by the City of Tucson.

How can SBWAP Help Your Business?

  • Saves your money when managing smaller quantities of hazardous waste.
  • Reduces your paperwork. Saves you time. SBWAP tracks your waste for you.
  • Guarantees that your hazardous waste is properly recycled or disposed of.
  • Offers assistance with waste identification and how it should best be managed.

Who can Use the SBWAP?

Almost any business that generates small quantities of hazardous waste and operates as a Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator (CESQG).

What's a CESQG?

A CESQG is a business that is exempt from most state and federal hazardous waste disposal regulations so long as it generates very small quantities of hazardous waste and ensures delivery of its waste to a facility that is permitted to receive it.

Where does the Waste Go?

Waste is received at a convenient local location at the City of Tucson/Pima County Household Hazardous Waste Facility (HHWP) on West Sweetwater Drive.

95% of the waste received is recycled.

Why do we need SBWAP?

  1. Prevent illegal disposal of hazardous waste into municipal landfills, sewers, storm drains, and the environment.
  2. Help the business meet its legal and financial responsibilities for the proper handling of its waste.

How does the Program Work?

  1. Register with SBWAP, it's free.
  2. Submit list, description and quantities of your hazardous waste.
  3. Schedule appointment to deliver waste to the facility.
  4. Pay disposal fee at the time of delivery. This fee covers the cost of disposal and funds education about hazardous waste management.

Remember: Proper handling of waste now will save you money in the future!
