needs a permit?
Everyone in Pima County conducting landstripping and/or earthmoving over 1 acre,
trenching over 300 feet, road construction over 50 feet, and for blasting.
Why
are permits issued?
A permit allows
the regulated facility to be knowledgeable of all applicable
air quality regulations and allows the regulating agency
to be familiar with the type of operations at the facility
and the methods of air pollution controls used.
What
are permits?
A key tool
in assuring that facilities comply with air quality
regulations.
What
is fugitive dust?
Fugitive dust, or
Particulate Matter (PM) is made up of tiny solid particles
or liquid droplets suspended in the air we breathe. PM
is one of the most significant air pollutants in Pima
County, and has serious impacts on human health and the
environment.
Why
does PDEQ regulate Fugitive Dust?
PDEQ regulates fugitive
dust to ensure that the county meets and maintains national
air quality standards.
Who
is responsible for controlling fugitive dust?
Everyone, any activity
likely to produce excessive amounts of dust.
