Pima County Air Quality Hearing Board
Pursuant to A.R.S 49-477, the Board of Supervisors shall appoint an air pollution hearing board. The hearing board shall consist of five members that are knowledgeable in the field of air pollution. At least one member of the board shall be an attorney licensed to practice law in this state. Each board member shall serve for a term of three years.
Currently the Hearing Board consists of the following members:
Dr. Barry Friedman, Physician
Dr. Caryl Brailsford, Physician
Dr. Thomas Peterson, PhD in Engineering
Sheila Bowen, Engineer
James Mather, Attorney
• What is their purpose?
The purpose of the Hearing Board is to adjudciate issues of law and fact which may arise as a result of the Department's actions.
• Who can attend the hearing?
All members of the public are invited to attend, however pursuant to law, only those who have formally appealed the permit will be permitted to testify.
• Who can speak before the Hearing Board?
Pursuant to law, only the parties involved in the appeal may have witnesses to testify at the hearing. This and other related information may be found in the Pima County Air Hearing Board Manual of Procedures.
