Results of ADHS’ Brush Ceramic Products Health Consultation Presented |

Tucson, Arizona (September 12, 2005) – The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) will present the results of the Brush Ceramics Products Health Consultation on Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at the Sunnyside High School Auditorium located at 1725 East Bilby Road at 6:30 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to provide results of the ADHS Health Consultation for the neighborhood surrounding the Brush Ceramic Products facility. The Health Consultation was conducted by the Arizona Department of Health Services to evaluate beryllium exposure to area residents.
ADHS was asked to perform this evaluation by the Pima County and Arizona Departments of Environmental Quality to determine whether beryllium emissions from Brush Ceramic Products’ facility poses a health threat to school employees and children and residents in the vicinity of the facility.
Several other governmental and private agencies will be available at the September 14th presentation to answer questions and provide additional information including Pima County Department of Environmental Quality, the City of Tucson Fire Department, the Pima County Department of Health, D.R. Horton, and the Sunnyside School District.
