Tucson, Arizona (September 28, 2006) – The Pima
County Department of Environmental Quality (PDEQ) invites interested
members of the public to a free workshop to learn about Alternative
On-Site Wastewater Treatment for Residential Systems. These specially
designed systems are used on lots that cannot take a conventional
septic system and are not connected to the public sewer system.
The free workshop will be held at the Public Works Building
in the large basement conference room at 201 N. Stone Avenue
on Tuesday, October 3, 2006. The purpose of the workshop is to
educate potential property owners, real estate agents specializing
in land sales, engineers, builders, and others about these types
of systems and also reduce the amount of time spent by PDEQ staff,
engineers, and property owners during the plan review process.
The first session (9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.) will address the
basics of these systems (what they are, when they are used, how
they work, etc.). The second session (12:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.)
will assist property owners and engineers in understanding the
intricacies of the plan review process, performed by PDEQ, and
improving turnaround time on plan submittals.
Pre-registration is not necessary to attend the workshop. For
more information, please call PDEQ at 520.740.3340.
