Pima County Department of Environmental Quality (PDEQ) is a regulatory agency serving Pima County by protecting public health and the environment. PDEQ operates programs to monitor air and water quality, hazardous waste, solid waste, and assist in waste minimization and pollution prevention. PDEQ also provides public outreach, education, and citizens assistance; processes environmental permits; and responds to public complaints and inquiries with investigations and enforcement.
Our Mission
Identify and respond to environmental issues by providing public service including monitoring, enforcement, information, education and solid waste management.
Our Goals
• Assess and identify environmental concerns.
• Acquire proper legal authority.
• Ensure proper resources including a highly trained and motivated staff.
• Maintain open and effective communications between the community and the department.
Our History
Founded in 1989, PDEQ's scope includes air and water quality, hazardous waste, solid waste, waste minimization, and pollution prevention.
