PDEQ Is Moving to 33 N. Stone Avenue, Suite 700 (7th floor of the Bank of America Building) at Stone Avenue and Pennington Street beginning February 1, 2010.

Beginning February 1st, dust activity permits, open burning permits, asbestos NESHAP permits and stationary source permits will be handled at the new location. All other services will temporarily remain at the 150 W. Congress address.

Beginning March 1st, plan reviews, septic inspections, public water system information, and solid and liquid waste hauler information will be available at the new location. Staff at the new location will also address Notices of Violations, enforcement issues, and provide public records requests. The remaining PDEQ services will stay at the old location until Monday, March 21.

Please use the (520) 740-3340 main phone number for departmental information and/or questions until Friday, February 26th. The PDEQ main telephone number will change to (520) 243-7400 on Monday, March 1.

Fireplace Use Can Take Your Breath Away

Cooler nights bring more fireplaces and wood stoves into use in our community increasing the amount of smoke in our air. Wood smoke contains hundreds of chemical compounds, including nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, volatile organic compounds, and particulate matter. These compounds can cause health problems, especially for children, pregnant women and people with respiratory ailments and heart disease. Read more

• Turn off equipment when not in use. This simple action can reduce the energy used by 25%; turning off the computers at the end of the day can save an additional 50%. If you must leave your computer on overnight, be sure to at least turn the monitor off.
